Vieux Flandre border

Fragment: 1.675" x 17.5" (4.25cm x 44.25cm) ignore lower engrelure at end.
Length: 1.675: x ~64" (4.25cm x 162.56cm)
Very good condition. Both pieces are cut both ends, slight wear on lower edge (opposite the engurelure).

A border and fragment (same design) of Vieux Flandre (Old Flanders). The mesh is needlemade, 1-1/2 twist worked from the left to right, same as the Alençon réseau fin - more analysis needs to be done. This lace is underestimated, we are very unsure where and when it was made. The motifs are nicely done, and the needlemade mesh found imitators in Italian Punto Milano.
